Bill Hader recalls trainwreck “Saturday Night Live” sketch that was cut after dress rehearsal

There’s a lot of factors that go into whether a sketch works or not on Saturday Night Live. Maybe it just didn’t click with the crowd or something unexpected happened that broke up the momentum. Or maybe it just wasn’t all that funny.
When Bill Hader went on Late Night w/Seth Meyers last night, he recounted a sketch that totally fell apart at dress rehearsal. It started with the set almost falling down on host Justin Bieber, and then it was all downhill from there. Also, the fact that there was a lot of teenage girls in the crowd, and Hader was playing an old cowboy singing a song for his dad probably didn’t help, either. Consequently, Hader would later call out Bieber as the worst SNL guest during his tenure.
For those curious, you can watch the sketch (and hear commentary from Hader and the writers) here.
