Legends Of Laughter

As a comedy fan, if you’ve ever thought, “hey, I’d like an action figure of my favorite comedian.” Well, this is the news you’ve been waiting for. Comedy Dynamics announced a collaboration with its parent, The Nacelle Company to collaborate on a line of action figures called Legends of Laughter. Nacelle has been in the toy business for a while creating TV shows behind Netflix’ The Toys That Made Us and A Toy Story Near You so they just needed to tap Dynamics for the IP and Bob’s your uncle.

The Legends of Laughter line will launch with action figures that bear the likeness of Bill Hicks, Joan Rivers, and Lenny Bruce. Three legendary comedians whose estates are currently managed by Comedy Dynamics.

Pre-orders for these figures will happen on Nacelle’s website starting August 16th which also happens to be National Joke Day. The action figures will also be available in hundreds of independent toy stores and other retailers worldwide. To further tie in the comedy and toy worlds here, the figures will feature a QR code and give fans a previously unreleased track from the artist, personally curated by the estates of the late comedians.

No announcement would be complete without notable quotes from people relevant to the event…

“This is another way to honor the legacy of Lenny Bruce as one of the greatest trail blazers, irreverent figures, who always stayed true to what he believed in as a freedom fighter for the first amendment” said Kitty Bruce, the comedian’s daughter.

Melissa Rivers, daughter of Joan joked, “I think the term, ‘Action Figure,’ may be a bit ambitious for a woman who considered making a martini exercise,” adding, “Nonetheless, tt is a treat to see my mother captured, and I do mean captured.”

“What a cool, fun way to further acknowledge Bill’s place in comedy!” Hicks’s brother Steve Hicks said in a statement. “Such a privilege for him to be included in this first run of Legends along with fellow icons Lenny Bruce and Joan Rivers.”

There is no word yet on the retail price of the figures so we’ll have to wait until August 16th to find out how much purchasing all three action figures will effect your wallet.
