Friend and previous podcast guest, The Kickback’s Billy Yost, gave us new meaning to the almost meaningless everyday phrase “How’s the weather out there?” The lead singer/guitarist took it upon himself to answer that very question for the people of Cleveland, OH.
This past Friday, Yost and his band performed at The Grog shop in Cleveland immediately following a night in Toledo, OH at the Ottawa Tavern. In his “rendition” of a weather report, the frontman asks the news staff, “It’s Friday right? We’ve been up for about 48hrs, we’re not really sure.” Touring life strikes again.
Yost’s personality is undeniably gravitating. You can’t help but love his earnest effort and throw-me-right-in-the-fire attitude. As the story goes, the South Dakota turned Chicago native has an affinity for morning television. Upon arrival at the station, he immediately hit it off with the anchors and asked if he could help with the broadcast in anyway. Yost got his wish when meteorologist Samantha Roberts decided to take a break and hand over the reins. The results are quite enjoyable. Early indications are that LeBron James is a fan.
The Kickback are currently on tour in support of their debut album Sorry All Over The Place which is available here. You can also check out Yost’s appearance on our podcast here. There band manager Howie also offered us up some great advice on behalf of the band and SXSW.
Let’s take a look at Billy Yost’s first 7-day forecast for the city of Cleveland on behalf of CBS 19:
