Forty hours straight.
That is how long comedian Bob Marley performed stand up for in a Portland Maine comedy club, shattering the old record of thirty eight hours and six minutes. First off with a name like “Bob Marley” you would think the guy wouldn’t need to do a cheap stunt like this to get an audience.
On top of breaking the record, previously held by Lindsay Webb from Australia, he helped raise twelve thousand dollars for the city’s Barbara Bush Children Hospital.
Marley said he was able to go 18 hours before he had to start repeating any jokes.
Guinness rules allow a five-minute break every hour, but also require that the comedian perform in front of audience of at least 10 at all times – whose members have to be awake.
Ironic enough that after all the news you hear about a guy doing forty hours of stand up no one asks “was he actually funny?”
