Sad news: after nine seasons, Saturday Night Live MVP Bobby Moynihan is leaving the show’s cast.
The official news came during the CBS upfronts, where Moynihan was introducing his next project, sitcom Me, Myself, and I, which was announced earlier this spring.
Me, Myself, and I, which will air on Monday nights this fall, “focuses on three distinct periods” in Alex Riley’s life — “as a 14-year-old in 1991, a 40-year-old in present day and a 65-year-old in 2042.” Moynihan is set to star as present-day Alex, an inventor struggling to get over a creative block.
That means this Saturday’s SNL season finale will be Moynihan’s last as a cast member. He’ll end his nine-year run alongside host Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and musical guest Katy Perry.
You can also catch Moynihan at the Del Close Marathon in NYC this June – tickets to his show (and all others) are on sale now.
