Anthony Cumia is out of a job for being assaulted?
Just moments ago the SiriusXM DJ and co-host of The Opie & Anthony Show announced that the satellite radio company had fired him over an incident that didn’t even happen while on the job. As we reported yesterday, Cumia went on a scathing Twitter rant after being attacked in Times Square by an anonymous woman while taking pictures.
Cumia announced the news this morning via the same Twitter account that started the controversy in the first place.
Sirius decided to cave and fire me. Welcome to bizarro world. Fired for shit that wasn't even on the air & wasn't illegal. So, who's next?

Cumia promised he’ll share more clarity over the situation via his podcast after the long holiday weekend.
After the wkend, I'll have a better idea of things. Fuck Sirius. I'll pop on the Compound show next week and discuss this with TOTAL FREEDOM

[Update: 11:00 am] SiriusXM has released an official statement about Cumia’s firing:
SiriusXM has terminated its relationship with Anthony Cumia of the Opie & Anthony channel. The decision was made, and Cumia informed, late Thursday, July 3 after careful consideration of his racially-charged and hate-filled remarks on social media. Those remarks and postings are abhorrent to SiriusXM, and his behavior is wholly inconsistent with what SiriusXM represents.
[Update: 8pm] Jim Norton speaks.
For 10 years, @AnthonyCumia has made me laugh harder than anyone alive. No one has silenced me, I just have no idea what happens next.

The duo have stated in the past that they are a team and it’s both of them or nothing. We’ll share more news as it develops.
