Cougar Town star Busy Philipps is the latest name to be cast in HBO comedy Vice Principals. She will play the ex-wife of one of the main characters in the show.
Vice Principals tells the story of a high school and its vice principals, Neal Gamby and Lee Russell. Philipps will be playing Gale Liptrapp, the ex-wife of Neal Gamby and mother to his child, who has remarried and has no tolerance for Gamby’s antics. Vice Principals comes from Eastbound & Down creators Danny McBride and Jody Hill, and has been confirmed for an 18-episode run. HBO’s president, Michael Lombardo said in a statement last year, “Danny McBride and Jody Hill have created a smart, rowdy and unpredictable style of comedy that we can’t get enough of. “The idea of them setting their minds on high school was irresistible.” Also starring is Sheaun McKinney (Graceland, Burn Notice), Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Selfie), Georgia King (The New Normal) and McBride (Pineapple Express, The Foot Fist Way) as Neal Gamby.
