Man, this week really ended on a bummer of a note. Evil showed it’s ugly head once again. I’m not going make this a pro/con/political/religious and long-winded rant. Just know that there’s an overwhelming sadness about the Sandy Hook shootings for many reasons.
Whenever things like this happen I’m always reminded of the story Mr. Rogers once told about his mother’s comforting words in scary times. It’s simple to remember when your brain is scattered.
“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping,’ To this day, especially in times of ‘disaster,’ I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world.”
Here’s what’s been big on The Laugh Button this last week. Hopefully something will make you smile.
- The 25 Captions of Comedy contest is going terrifically. We’ve already given away boxes of books, DVDs, CDs, t-shirts, and signed stuff. Be sure to enter daily to win prizes, as the weeks go on we’re giving away more and more cool stuff that you can shake a stick at.
- The Golden Globes were announced this week and people don’t know what the word “comedy” means.
- The lineup for SF Sketchfest is friggin’ huge! You should pick up some tickets this Sunday and get on it.
- We got one of the best fan letters ever.
- A while back we got the chance to sit down with the Ace Man himself Adam Carolla, he liked to talk a lot so we brought our interview to you in three parts this week.
- Jamie Foxx hosted Saturday Night Live and we recapped it.
- We accidentally found ourselves live tweeting the 12-12-12 Concert and farted out gems like this, this, and this. And Adam Sandler did this.
