Center Stage: Lee Camp

May 24, 2011      Matt      Center Stage, Lee Camp

Lee Camp is amongst the new wave of comedians that want you to think about what they are saying just as much as they want you to laugh at it. In addition to being a contributor to publications like The Onion and 23/6, he’s thrown his efforts behind politics by doing gigs for politicians like Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama, offering commentary for the 2008 elections. Lee uses comedy to point out what he see’s as wrong with society, a job for any great comedian.

He’s done the rounds of TV appearances from PBS to ABC‘s Good Morning America and recently on The Green Room with Paul Provenza.

Highly active in speaking his mind, Camp produces a video series on his website called “Moment Of Clarity” releasing his rants in 3 minute bursts. They might be considered violent torpedoes of truth if that wasn’t such a lame way of putting it (thanks Charlie Sheen).

And as someone who likes to talk politics, he got the chance to walk into the lion’s den and deal on FOX News.

Camp just released a new stand-up album, Chaos For The Weary and it doesn’t hurt to have the whole thing kick off with him getting called to the stage by Kelly Carlin, the daughter of George Carlin as she gives three reasons Camp reminds her of her dad. Well damn! We could think of much worse comedians to get compared to.

Listen for yourself.
