When Showtime first unveiled the news of their new satire space series Moonbase 8 earlier this year, the teaming up of Fred Armisen, John C. Reilly, and Tim Heidecker was a combination we had no idea we needed. And now, after viewing the trailer, it’s starting to make sense. Maybe we do need this. Check out the official synopsis below.
Set in the isolated desert of Winslow, Arizona at NASA’s Moon Base Simulator, Moonbase 8 follows eager astronauts Skip (Armisen), Rook (Heidecker) and their leader Cap (Reilly) as they attempt to qualify for their first lunar mission. While working vigorously to complete their training, a series of unexpected circumstances forces the astronauts to question their own mental sanity, trust in each other and whether or not they’re cut out for space travel.
The series, which will air on Showtime, is created by Armisen, Teily, Heidecker, and Jonathan Krisel, who will also be executive producing the series. A24 and Abso Lutely Productions are both also on board as producers.
Moonbase 8 launches on November 8th.
