Between her years on Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (which was jointly distributed by NBC and Netflix), and Mr. Mayor, Tina Fey has had a long-standing relationship with NBC. And now, that relationship is going to grow even further with a new series she’s producing with her husband Jeff Richmond and writing partner Robert Carlock.
Girls5Eva, which is debuting on Peacock, follows “when a one-hit-wonder girl group from the 90’s gets sampled by a young rapper, its members reunite to give their pop star dreams one more shot. They may be grown women balancing spouses, kids, jobs, debt, aging parents, and shoulder pain, but can‘t they also be Girls5eva?”.
The show, which was co-created by Meredith Scardino, stars Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Busy Philipps, and Fey-favorite Paula Pell.
Girls5Eva premieres on Peacock on May 6th.
