Cheech and Chong headed back to the silver screen with the help of Jay Chandrasekhar

March 25, 2014      Phil Rothermich      Movies, News

Cheech and ChongThey’re comedy’s most iconic and classic stoners and they’re coming to a theater near you. Stoner pals, Tommy Chong and Cheech Marin have revealed to the website CelebStoner.com (yep, that’s real) that they are working on making a new movie. The duo revealed that they’re working with director/Broken Lizard’s Jay Chandrasekhar (Super Troopers, The Dukes of Hazzard, Beerfest) to make the film happen.

Chong spoke about the potential new flick, “He’s (Chandrasekhar) working a script right now for us.” Chong continued on to say, “We’ve had some preliminary meetings. It looks really good. It looks really funny. It’s about us going to a festival called the Burning Joint. All sorts of shenanigans happen. It’s going to be a lot of fun.” Chong continued on to say that it was Cheech’s manager that approached the two with the idea. “They came at us with a rough idea and now they’re fleshing it out and making it into a budgetable script.” Chong even mentioned that they could start shooting as early as this summer.

Is it just us or does this fall in line with the idea of what we’ve heard about the Beerfest sequel, Potfest? Maybe Cheech and Chong are going to be a part of that movie and are too stoned to understand? When we spoke with Jay last summer he did mention that Cheech was to be part of Potfest.

Or perhaps Potfest fell apart and they’re re-working the script into a C&C film? Maybe they’re two completely different films. Let the speculation begin!
