The folks at [adult swim] might have just mined another quirky comedy. This time in the form of a live action medical-drama-comedy (it’s a new genre we just made up). Childrens Hospital is a comedy series created by Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine, The Daily Show) and features a pretty stacked group of comedic actors. In addition to Corddry, the show’s other executive producers include Jonathan Stern (The Ten, Scotland, PA) and David Wain (Role Models, Wet Hot American Summer).
Corddry is joined by Mailin Akerman, Lake Bell, Erinn Hayes, Rob Hubel, Ken Marino, Megan Mullally, and Henry Winkler to round out the core cast. Since the show is set in a hospital there’s lots of room for guest stars to show up on the show and from just watching the trailer and a glance over the show’s IMDB page, its a who’s who of funny people – Cloris Leachman, Jeff Ross, Ed Bagley Jr, Nick Kroll, Kurtwood Smith, Paul Scheer, Clark Duke, Nick Offerman, Michael Cera, Jason Sudekis, Brian Huskey, Ed Helms, Nathan Corddry, Ernie Hudson, John Cho and we’re thinking that’s Adam Scott in the Vulcan get-up.
The show got its start as a Webby Award-winning series that first debuted on the www.thewb.com back in 2008. It’s format is a twisted take on medical dramas like Grey’s Anatomy or House. Think Scrubs if it were written by the seriously disturbed kid no one talked to in high school. The show will air the original webisodes plus newly produced episodes of the show.
Childrens Hospital debuts on July 11th at 10:30 on [adult swim].
