Chris D’Elia breaks 8 month silence after sexual misconduct accusations

It’s been months since we’ve heard from Chris D’Elia. In the summer of 2020 sexual misconduct accusations were levied against the comedian claiming that he had relationships with underage women. The comedian released a statement to the press denying the accusations and then pretty much disappeared from the public spotlight.
He ceased being active on social media and stopped appearing in the public or producing new episodes of his wildly popular podcast. His comedian friends denounced his actions, he lost work, he lost representation.
Today, D’Elia spun back up his Youtube page and posted a 9:47 clip titled, “It’s Been A While” breaking his 8 month silence and going into detail about himself, stating that sex was controlling his life and he was headed for a reckoning and essentially stating he was a sex addict. Recounting a nightly cycle of him getting dozens of DMs from fans after shows from women willing to and able to have sex with him. He thought it he was living a life people only dreamed about and it “wasn’t a problem until it was a problem.” It became too much and was a lifestyle that he didn’t know how to stop. He cheated on many of his girlfriends and even fiancé.
D’Elia added that during his time away, he sought medical advice and therapy, spent time with his family (including a newborn), and tried to “take a long hard look at myself.” He wants to be a role model for his new son.” What I have come to understand is this was always about sex to me,” D’Elia said. “It was my focus all the time… And I had a problem. And I do have a problem.”
D’Elia ended the clip with an apology to “the people that got caught up in that shit.” Adding “it was too much, I made too many excuses, and I can’t do it anymore.” Stating that he’s now on a path to recovery and has been on for many months.
The clip ended giving no indication if the comic is planning on starting his podcast back up (obviously nobody is touring right now). But there are still massive fans out there waiting to see what he does next.
