Earlier this year, Comedy Central tried something new where they opted to upload Sam Morril’s special I Got This onto YouTube. And to follow this up is their newest series, Robbie, which stars comedian Rory Scovel.
The pilot of the series is set to be released tomorrow at 11:45, following The Daily Show. The next day, you’ll be able to binge all episodes on their YouTube channel, their website, and on demand.
Here is the show’s official synopsis. “Robbie is a small town youth league basketball coach living in his father’s shadow, until he realizes he has a son of his own who can lead him to greatness.”
Robbie is written by Scovel and Anthony King, the latter best known for Broad City and Silicon Valley. Co-stars include with Rory are Beau Bridges, Sasheer Zamata and Mary Holland. Scovel and King are executive producers alongside Scott Moran, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Betsy Koch and Owen Burke. Gary Sanchez Productions is beyond it, which means this may be one of the last new series from Ferrell and McKay who parted ways as business partners last year.
The move to binge is not entirely shocking, as that’s sort of where most of the new content is viewed the next day anyway. And if this proves to work out better, certainly expect to see others to follow.
