Last week the Comedy Cellar set up a GoFundMe account to raise money for one of its own, Ardie Fuqua. The goal of the account was to raise $40,000 to help Ardie and his family pay for medical bills as a result of his involvement in the June 7th limo accident that killed James “Jimmy Mack” McNair and put Fuqua, Tracy Morgan, and Morgan’s assistant, Jeff Mellia in the ICU.
After just five days of the account being up and running, we’re happy to report that the initial goal of $40K has not only been met but exceeded. At the time of this writing $47,593 has been raised from 437 donors. It’s fantastic to see the comedy community show its support for one of its most loved members, a browse through the donor list proves that Ardie was loved by not only fans but other comedians. Furthermore the most generous donor, who gave $10K today to meet the goal, decided to remain anonymous.
While this is great news, it doesn’t mean that Ardie is out of the woods. If you’re in a position to give even a few bucks, it is still greatly appreciated.
