Since launching the podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend back in late 2018, Team Coco has fully embraced the audio world. From shows exploring the behind-the-scenes side of Conan (Inside Conan) to additional popular (Literally with Rob Lowe, The Three Questions with Andy Richter, Dads: The Podcast), it seems like they’ve very quickly found their way around the medium.
And today, it was announced that Team Coco is extending things even further. Team Coco has partnered up with Audible to bring us all sorts of new stuff. Some of these new shows include scripted and non-scripted series, non-fiction documentaries, and more. And we imagine that this new deal will allow O’Brien and company more chances to give opportunities to up and coming comedic voices.
And starting things off is Lea Thompson and Zoey Deutch in a new scripted show titled A Total Switch Show that will launch on May 6th, 2021. The series “follows 23-year-old Emma and her 54-year-old mom Lisa who have switched bodies, but unlike the movies, no amount of lesson learning will switch them back.” Rounding out the cast is Bradley Whitford, Bobby Moynihan, Giancarlo Esposito, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Judy Greer, Sasheer Zamata, and Kimberly Hebert Gregory. Writers on the show, which is directed by Gail Mancuso and executive produced by Gavin Palone, include Agathe Panaretos, Madelyn Deutch, Sam West, Julie Greiner, and head writer Matt Powers.
“Conan O’Brien and Team Coco are innovators and brilliant comedic minds with a track record of creating engaging content and distinctive entertainment experiences,” said Rachel Ghiazza, Executive Vice President, Head of US Content at Audible in a statement. “We have so much to look forward to with this remarkable team as they bring hilarious entertainment to the Audible content pipeline, including A Total Switch Show, which is a comedic romp performed by extraordinarily talented artists that we know will have our members laughing.”
“We are excited to continue to expand Team Coco’s podcast offerings and collaborate with Audible, who is at the forefront of audio entertainment, to create unique new audio content,” said Team Coco COO, Adam Sachs, in his own statement. “We know the Team Coco brand of humor will shine in the series we are creating with them and we can’t wait for Audible audiences to get to hear them.”
We hope that by May of next year, people will be looking for more content to listen to in their respective cars again. And if that is the case, then something tells us this will definitely make the drives more enjoyable.
