This past week, Conan O’Brien returned to New York City the city where he first kicked off his late night comedy decades ago. He famously moved the show to the West Coast for his job on The Tonight Show and did not return once he ended up on TBS. That was, until this past week where he returned to Gotham to record a week’s worth of late night festivities.
We caught a glimpse of the blimp hovering over the city late last week and its been all Conan, all week long. If you happened to miss any of the action here’s a look at the busy week of NYC-centric activities and celebs that kept Conan busy had while he was in town.
He celebrated Halloween with Jimmy Fallon
Fallon was the guy that replaced Conan’s NBC late late night show, so it was nice to see the two gather together and talk about Fallon’s Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor and perform a song for Halloween.
He photobombed The Today Show
Why not visit the folks at NBC you used to work with?
He checked in on his pal the masturbating bear
The Masturbating bear made a lot of changes in his life since we last saw him, or the Self-pleasuring Panda.
He was visited by Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert
A lot of Conan’s NYC late night friends stopped by the show in town. And Colbert/Stewart even won tickets.
He Delivered some Chinese food
Delivering Chinese food in New York is a unique experience. Now that Conan can’t get it as quick as he once was able to, he needs to relive that experience.
He entertained his boss, Ted Turner
TBS is owned by Ted Turner and Ted happens to own an eatery in NYC where you can get yourself a pretty delicious bison burger. So seeing Ted Turner (aka Will Forte) riding through the streets of New York on a bison isn’t weird in the least.
He made some NYC pizza
There’s pretty much nothing more NYC than its pizza. So let’s put a very tall, very Irish guy in there to make some?
He sent Triumph down to Occupy Wall St. to see what’s going on
The Occupy Wall St movement is growing more each day and many in town want to get first-hand accounts of what’s going on down there. So Conan sent his very best correspondent down there to see what was going on.
He talked to Louis C.K.
Louis C.K. is a friend of the show, and one of Conan’s original writers back in the day. Louis is also set to record a stand-up special next week in the very same theater Conan was performing at all week. So he had the comedian on hand to discuss what was up with him, ya know, Louis isn’t up to much these days.
He officiated a gay wedding
To cap off the week Conan officiated his costume designer’s wedding to his partner. Since gay marriage is legal in NYC and not LA, what better place than at the Beacon theatre with Conan O’Brien overseeing the ceremony? Oh! That’s right, Andy Cohen makes it better.
