Conchata Ferrell, best known for her portrayal as the smart-ass housekeeper Berta on Two and a Half Men, has passed away at the age of 77, following complications from going into cardiac arrest. She was surrounded by her family.
Despite best being remembered for her role as Berta, which she played from 2003 until the show went off the air in 2015 and garnered her two Emmy nominations, this wasn’t her first series. She also had starred on Norman Lear’s controversial short-lived series Hot l Baltimore back in 1975, on which she played a prostitute. She also appeared on Maude, Good Times, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Ranch, Matlock, Night Court, The Love Boat, Who’s The Boss, St. Elsewhere, Murder She Wrote, Duckman, and a recurring part on L.A. Law, which also garnered her an Emmy nomination.
As a film actress, she had appeared in Network, Edward Scissorhands, Mr. Deeds, Mystic Pizza, Erin Brockovich, and Frankenweenie.
