Connor Ratliff is finally interviewing Tom Hanks about why he got fired 20 years ago
March 3, 2022 Andrew Buss Late Night With Seth Meyers, News
Over 20 years ago, actor/comedian Connor Ratliff was cast in a small part on Band of Brothers. It got even better. The show’s executive producer, Tom Hanks, was actually directing the episode. However, the day before filming, Ratliff was fired because – as his agent told him – “Tom Hanks thinks you have dead eyes.” The part was recast.
Years later, Ratliff turned that rejection into a podcast titled Dead Eyes. In it, he explores what happened and various other life disappointments. But now, for its third season finale, the craziest thing has happened. Tom Hanks is going to be a guest on the show.
Ratliff made the announcement on Late Night w/Seth Meyers. Much like the time Marc Maron interviewed Lorne Michaels about why he didn’t get cast on SNL, we expect to hear a full breakdown of what happened. And in the end, Ratliff eventually made a cult name for himself, hosting the hilarious parody talk show The George Lucas Talk Show. But even still, we’re glad that both parties are finally getting that closure!
