I was up waaaaaay too late last night participating in the 24 hour news cycle, watching the events of yesterday unfold. Being that I run a comedy website I also got to thinking about how many comedians call, at sometime lived, or got their start in Boston, the list is gigantic. I also wondered how some of the late night comedy shows were going to respond – What would Jon Stewart or Colbert say? What about Letterman or Leno? Then as luck would have it, Craig Ferguson came onto the television as these thoughts ran through my head. Ferguson usually has a terrific cold open as he shouts, “It’s a great day for America!” and heads into his monologue. While yesterday was not a great day for America he opted to just speak candidly about the situation. This isn’t the first time that Ferguson has taken this approach, doing something similar during the movie theater shootings in Colorado. Which is more to the point of everything, he, like many of us are tired of not having great days.
