On Saturday night, Craig Robinson was in the green room of The Comedy Zone in Charolette, NC. However, shortly before the show was set to begin, there were shots fired outside the club. Immediately following, an active shooter entered the club brandishing a weapon, announced that he had a gun, and demanded everyone leave the club. The room was quickly evacuated as he started opening fire. Everyone from the club was quickly relocated to a Big Time Rush concert happening nearby (because apparently they’re still a thing). While at the concert, Craig Robinson did an Instagram Live where he talked about the incident.
“I’m performing at The Comedy Zone in Charlotte, North Carolina. There was an active shooter in the comedy club,” he said in the video. He continued, “I’m cool. I’m safe. It was just wild. I was in the green room and they were like, ‘Everybody get out,’ … It was wild. It was a moment for sure.”
The suspect is 36 year-old Omar McCombs, who was quickly apprehended by police. Thankfully, there were no injuries in the incident. Robinson’s remaining shows on Saturday and Sunday, however, we’re canceled by the club.
The next day, Robinson posted an update about the incident thanking the club staff and CMPD for resolving the issue quickly without injury to anyone.
