D.L. Hughley was performing a show at the Zanies in Nashville last night. Around 11pm, while onstage, Hughley took a seat on the stool and seemed visibly disoriented. He took a sip of water, and as he was trying to finish a joke, he stopped cold. He was about to fall off the stool when his manager quickly ran onstage to catch his fall. According to the video, released by TMZ, you can see Hughley be dragged offstage by his manager and other club personnel.
It was reported that nobody at the club was informed of what was going on with Hughley, though you can hear in the video an announcement made saying they had the situation under control and advising everyone to remain calm. Apparently, he was taken out of the venue on a stretcher and rushed to a nearby hospital.
This morning, TMZ received a statement saying the following.
“[Hughley] suffering from exhaustion after all the week’s work and travel, and was kept overnight at the hospital for tests under doctor’s orders. He is awake and feeling better, and wishes to thank everyone for the very kind prayer and thoughts.”
We wish Hughley a speedy recovery! We will update as we find out more information.
