Dave Chappelle is one of the most respected stand-up comedians of our time and this year he was the recipient of the Mark Twain prize for American Humor. Back in October many of his friends and family went to The Kennedy Center to pay homage to Chappelle, and that show just aired. Along with close friends Jon Stewart, Sarah Silverman, John Legend, and Neal Brennan payed homage to their friend. But not resting on others to just say what’s on his mind, Chappelle gave a thrilling acceptance speech that was equal parts insightful, touching, and of course hilarious. Chappelle not only discussed his life with great poignancy but he gave some terrific words about his love for the art of comedy, adding some pretty great words about the first amendment with the words, “The First Amendment is first for a reason… the Second Amendment only exists in case the first one doesn’t work out.”
Here are the clips of the rest of the presenters discussing their love for Dave Chappelle.
