Gilda’s Laughfest is one of the top comedy festivals in the country. Every March, the comedy community rallies up in Grand Rapids, MI for weeks of great comedy for fun and great causes. It’s fun for parents and kids alike. Dozens of shows happen between March 10-20th and they announced a handful of more headlining shows. They just announced two new headliners for the festival including the long-awaited return of David Cross to the stand-up stage as well as The Daily Show’s correspondent Hasan Minhaj.
- David Cross: Emmy Award winner and Grammy Award nominee David Cross is an inventive performer, writer, and producer on stage and screens both big and small. Named one of the Top 100 Stand-Up Comedians of All Time by Comedy Central, Cross will launch his “Making America Great Again!” tour in January 2016.
- Hasan Minhaj: Hasan is a comedian, actor, and writer in New York. He is a correspondent on the Emmy and Peabody award-winning program “The Daily Show”. His critically acclaimed one man show ‘Homecoming King’, developed at Sundance’s prestigious New Frontier Storytelling Lab has garnered critical acclaim Off-Broadway. The New York Times cheers, “Hasan Minhaj battles bigotry with bittersweet humor,” while The Huffington Post raves, “what really sets the show apart is his fearlessness. The power of the show is undeniable.”
- Miranda Sings: International YouTube sensation Miranda Sings is bringing you a hilarious night filled with comedy, hit songs, magic tricks, dramatic readings of hate mail, and never before seen videos! The quirky superstar has over 60 million views on YouTube and has performed her one-woman show to sold-out crowds all over the world. You will not want to miss seeing this lipstick-wearing, epileptic eye-browed, crooked-smiling beauty live and in person!
Michael Palascak: Most recently, Michael Palascak finished in the top 5 of last season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. His stand-up is clean, original, and funny. He began his career with two network television performances on The Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno within 6 months of each other.
Rockin’ Homegrown Jam w/The Legal Immigrants: Returning for its fifth year, the Homegrown show is a mix of five comics that tour the country but call Grand Rapids home. As an added twist this year, The Legal Immigrants join the comics on stage for the night. After each comics set, they will perform a song of their choosing, live on stage with the band.
- Failure:Lab | LaughFest: an intimate event showcasing the untold failures behind success. With a refreshing environment of openness, Failure:Lab helps pave the way for change by crushing the isolation and stigma around failure. Failure:Lab empowers audience members to persevere by exploring the space between people who fail and quit, and those who get back up again.
Hen Sapp and Friends Keeping it Clean: Hen Sapp attributes his comedy ideas to the everyday things that happen around the house. He is an edgy Christian Comedian whom God has anointed, for such a time as this, with a gift to make people laugh. He has been involved in every year of the festival. This year he is joined by friends Crystal P and Laughin Lenny.
