David Letterman will host “Late Show” for the last time on May 20th

David LettermanWe’ve known for a while now that David Letterman would be stepping down as host of CBS’s Late Show. Today, the network finally released the date of Letterman’s last episode. According to Deadline, Letterman’s will take a bow on Wednesday, May 20th.

“David Letterman has given to all of us a remarkable legacy of achievement and creative brilliance that will never be forgotten,” CBS Corp President and CEO Leslie Moonves said in today’s announcement. “It’s going to be tough to say goodbye, but I know we will all cherish the shows leading up to Dave’s final broadcast in May.”

Letterman holds the title of the longest tenured late night host, having been at it for more than thirty-two years and hosting on CBS for twenty-two. Stephen Colbert will then step in as Late Show‘s new host.
