Comedy Central jumps head first into pilot season with an order for Detroiters. The idea revolves around two local ad men who make low-budget commercials in Detroit. But, much like the city in which they live, the best friends aspire to achieve greater things. The show will be executive produced by Saturday Night Live alum Jason Sudeikis and Broadway Video, Lorne Michaels’ company. Detroiters stars SNL writer Tim Robinson and Sam Richardson (Veep). Both are Detroit natives who worked together at Second City in Chicago. They co-created, co-wrote and will executive produce Detroiters as well with Joe Kelly (How I Met Your Mother) and Zach Kanin (SNL). If this show comes to full order for Comedy Central, we’ll have Detroit, Cleveland, Philadelphia, and Portland titled comedies on the air all at the same time. Fingers crossed for Sheboygan, WI next.
