Who wants to bid on some un-cashed Doug Stanhope residual checks? How about t-shirts he wore while on tour? Now is your chance. Stanhope, an avid eBay fan, (if you need proof, look no further than the bit about the website from his last stand-up special, Beer Hall Putsch) decided to put some things up for auction on eBay. It offers fans the chance to bid on the comedian’s memorabilia while putting some money towards charity. Beginning today through April 1, Doug will post new, “sh*t I hold on to for whatever silly or sentimental reason,” in his eBay store that you can bid on.
While t-shirts and the like are nothing new for someone to sell, Stanhope turns things up a notch by offering unique items like the VHS masters for episodes of The Man Show he starred in and uncashed royalty checks from TV appearances he made. Yes, you can bid on Doug Stanhope’s paychecks! What about the check cut for the $2 he earned from Chelsea Lately? How about that time he earned a residual payment of $.79 from his performance on Louie? To quote Doug, “Don’t spend it all in one place.”
Some of the money earned will go to charity so feel good about that as well. However, as Stanhope described, “Not a charity, mind you. F*ck those road agents and their cut. I’m just gonna find some random poor c*nt whose gotten the leaky d*ck by life and shove money at them.”
Check site often for new items to bid on.
Update: He’s since added things like shoes worn, tour posters, vinyl of other comedian’s records, and his mother’s diplomas from various massage schools around the US.
