Eddie Murphy Is Interested In Returning To Stand Up

The world of comedy is going to have a bright spot in its future ever since Eddie Murphy has been recently quoted as saying that he is interested in returning back to stand up comedy.
For anyone not old enough to remember the comic genius of Murphy, in the 80’s Murphy reigned supreme as a funny man after releasing the Raw special, quite possibly one of the funniest stand up performances ever.
After gaining success with a string of hilarious iconic 80’s and 90’s movies (Beverly Hills Cop, Coming to America, The Golden Child, Nutty Professor) Murphy lost his comedy way late into the 90’s and through the new millennium and until now has been putting out a stream of unfunny family geared movies (pretty much every movie he has made after 1999 that isn’t Shrek).
Murphy said he is feeling the “itch” for wanting to do stand up (at least that is what I hope the itch is from). But anyone getting there Amex cards ready to snag front row seats, sadly you will still have a while to wait. Murphy says “it’s gonna take at least a year to get the rust off; 20 years of rust.” In the meantime here is a clip from Eddie Murphy’s Raw stand up special to get you excited for 2011.
