Comedian Esther Povitsky is getting her first hour long stand-up special on Comedy Central.
Today Comedy Central released the first trailer for the upcoming special. In the trailer, we see Povitsky as she talks about how she looks like your babysitter, trying to read, and why her boyfriend won’t let her call him daddy in bed.
Within the special, we also get to go beyond the stand-up stage, and get a glimpse into her upbringing by watching her discussions with her parents. We are really enjoying these specials lately that have been inserting the semi-documentary approach into them. It allows you to have a better look at what goes into the jokes, who the comic is onstage and off, and why they are that way. And this seems to be right up that alley.
We recently spoke to Esther for The Laugh Button, so be sure to be on the lookout for that conversation coming soon. The special is produced by Adam Sandler’s company Happy Madison, which is the first time the company has ever produced a stand-up special, with the exception of Sandler’s own. Directing the special is Nicholaus Goossen.
Hot For My Name premieres on Comedy Central June 5th at 10pm.
