Fresh off a hospital stay that put him out of commission for a while, Artie Lange just broke the news that the DirecTV show that bears his name has been canceled. Lange stated the three year contract he had for the show was ending soon. However, he and his staff were all essentially thrown for a curveball when DirecTV decided that his show tonight would be its last. Essentially catching all of the staff off guard, stunned by the news and wondering what their next steps would be.
Lange spent the rest of the show thanking DirecTV for the chance, his staff, and the fans. Later joking with his staff about the news and finding the irony in it aligning with Craig Ferguson’s departure news on the same day. They then spent the rest of the episode cracking jokes about things like how quick DirecTV will dismantle the studio, fielding calls of disbelief from his fans, to welcoming the show’s final guest Chris DeStefano.
