[Update: 6/24, 3:01pm] The goal was met and is close to $50K raised and counting.
[Previous] The Comedy Cellar has started a crowdfunding campaign to aid one of it’s favorite comedians, Ardie Fuqua. Fuqua has been a long time host at the famed comedy club, has done warm-up on shows like Nikki & Sara Live, and has appeared on FX’s Louie. Fuqua was recently involved in the terrible accident that killed comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair, and sent Tracey Morgan, Fuqua, Harris Stanton, Morgan’s assistant Jeff Millea to the hospital when their limo bus was rear-ended by a tractor trailer. Morgan, Millea, and Fuqua have remained in the hospital in critical condition ever since. Recently Morgan and Millea’s status was raised to fair condition. Unfortunately, not much has been said about Fuqua’s condition since the accident. Unlike Morgan, the comedian does not have the same amount of fame. But he has certainly not been forgotten by his comedy community.
The Comedy Cellar initiated a GoFundMe campaign yesterday in hopes of raising $40,000 for Fuqua’s family and pay some medical bills. Many comedians like Amy Schumer are helping spearhead the cause that has so far raised over $8,000 in just a few hours. If you would like to donate (any and all sizes accepted), go here.
Get well soon, Ardie!
