Only a select few TV programs can claim their show has made it to season three (unfortunately Louis C.K. isn’t one of those people yet), but the cast of FX‘s The League can now claim this prestigious title.
Considering how much I rant and rave about this show (and pester it’s stars for interviews), it shouldn’t be a shock to anyone that I’m excited as hell for a third season pickup by the network. If you haven’t seen any episodes of The League yet (shame on you), it’s a semi-improvised show about a group of guys and their fantasy football league.
Even though the show centers around a football league, you don’t need to know anything about sports to enjoy this show anymore than you’d have to attend a two-year school to appreciate Community. The only thing that matters is you like to laugh at funny people like Nick Kroll, Paul Scheer, Jon Lejoie, Stephen Rannazzisi, and Mark Duplass as they play a gang of friends that mercilessly mock and prank each other.
Hulu is pretty good about having back episodes of the show up so if you want to do some catch up, trust me it will be time well spent.
Even if The League never makes it to see season four, making it this far already assures me three things:
1) It can never be called “an unsuccessful show”
2) It will have a pretty decently sized DVD box set
3) Me writing about it so much has not gone in vain
