We’re going to have more W. Kamau Bell in our future as FX has picked up the back end orders of both Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell which we enjoy a great amount, in addition to Brand X with Russell Brand which we’re currently digging less.
FX seems to believe the same as we do about Brand X because along with the announcement of the show’s pickup they stated that show would be “revamped.” We don’t know how much revamping they are talking about but if we had to guess it would be the inclusion of more guests, which worked well when they were on the show, and less of Brand rambling on (sometimes aimlessly) for long jags.
Both shows will remain on Thursday nights as Biased will move to 11:30 and Brand X will reclaim its 11pm slot. The new cycle of episodes will begin on October 11th with the premiere of the new season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
“What we’ve seen through five shows only reinforces our belief that Kamau is one of the sharpest, smartest and funniest young comedians in the business,” said Grad. “He brings an interesting perspective to late-night TV and has proven to be very comfortable in this format. That, coupled with the experience that Chris Rock and Chuck Skylar bring to the show, makes this order an easy decision.”
“I’m excited to be given the opportunity to continue working with the amazing FX and the brilliant Chris Rock,” said W. Kamau Bell. “We’ll be putting out new episodes, even more Totally Biased than before.” Chris Rock added, “I’m very excited and looking forward to working with the good people at FX. Please don’t tell Rupert Murdoch.”
