Last year, George Lopez came out with a new Netflix special, We’ll Do It For Half. And now, on the eve of his 60th birthday, George Lopez is talking about retiring from stand-up.
In a new premiere clip from today’s Daily Blast Live, Lopez sits down to talk about his new movie and stand-up. And during the clip, Lopez reveals that he’s thinking about retiring from the thing that helped make him a household name.
“I can see myself retiring from stand-up,” Lopez says in the clip. “I can see that [We’ll Do It For Half] as the last stand-up. You know, stand-up was an engine that took me further than I ever imagined that I would have ever gone, and I couldn’t have gone there alone. It doesn’t mean that I don’t love it, it doesn’t mean that I’ll never appreciate it because every morning that I get up, I thank the ability to make people laugh, first. I’m about to turn 60 and would I enjoy spending the next 10 years, enjoying the things that I’ve been able to do the last 40 years? Yes.”
With playing theaters in most areas of the country still up in the air for the remainder of the year, it’s not too surprising that Lopez came to this decision now. We look forward to whatever he plans to do next!
