Author / producer of The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail / co-writer and co-subject of forthcoming film The Big Sick, Emily V. Gordon, visited Last Call with Carson Daly to share some info on her highly anticipated new movie.
The Big Sick, which premiered to overwhelming critical acclaim at Sundance and SXSW earlier this year, tells the story of Gordon’s relationship with her now-husband, comedian Kumail Nanjiani (who stars in the film alongside Gordon stand-in Zoe Kazan). The pair have been together for years, but at the beginning, their romance was tinged with tragedy when Gordon fell into a coma, struck with a mysterious sickness.
In between navigating Nanjiani’s fledgling comedy career and their multi-cultural families, Gordon’s illness was just another thing for the two to deal with — hear Gordon tell Daly details about her hospitalization (she craved Arby’s afterward, for some reason), and what it was like to work with her husband (again), before sharing some clips from The Big Sick
The Big Sick is out on June 23rd, and you can watch the trailer right now.
