With HBO’s Insecure approaching the forthcoming fifth season, today the network announced that the fifth season will be its last.
“Issa has turned insecurity into an iconic form of comedy,” Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming said in a statement. “The show is as incisive as it is heartfelt, and it has resonated strongly with its audience because of the deeply personal work that Issa, Prentice, Melina, the cast and the writers have put into it. This talented team has conceived a brilliant final season for Insecure and we look forward to having many more stories to tell with this singular group of collaborators.”
Over the past four seasons, Insecure has become a hit with audiences and critics alike. And it even garnered star and co-creator Issa Rae two Emmy Award nominations, as well as one for the show itself. So after five seasons, we have a good feeling that it will be going out on top, which is obviously the most ideal situation. We look forward to seeing what this last season brings!
