A few weeks ago, we reported that The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was getting a dramatic reboot. And now, there’s some other news to tide over fans of the 90’s sitcom over. Yesterday, it was announced that HBO Max is bringing the cast of the original series back together again for a reunion special.
The newest streaming network is reuniting the cast that includes Will Smith, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid, Alfonso Ribeiro, and even DJ Jazzy Jeff. There’s also going to be music, dancing, and some additional surprise guests. Unfortunately however, James Avery who played Uncle Phil on the series, passed away in 2014.
The special is going to be filmed on September 10th on the series’ official 30th anniversary and is set to hit HBO Max sometime around Thanksgiving later this year. Will Smith’s production company, Westbrook Media, is also set to produce the series. And given the previous announcements of HBO Max acquiring reunion specials for Friends and The West Wing, it sounds like this is something that is going to fit right in.
