High Plains Comedy Festival announces its initial lineup

July 22, 2019      Matt      High Plains Comedy Festival, News

High Plains Comedy Festival

The High Plains Comedy Festival has announced its first wave of comedians that will be performing at the 2019 Denver-based comedy festival. The list includes a list of national acts, new faces, hometown comedians. The festival already announced headliner Maria Bamford performance that will also feature Aparna Nancherla and Jackie Kashian.

Some of the more prominent names on the list include Moshe Kasher, a stand-up, podcaster, author and actor who co-released a three-part stand-up special with wife Natasha Leggero on Netflix last year; Kyle Kinane, a perennial Denver fave who most recently appeared on truTV’s Those Who Can’t and voiced a character in the Netflix series Paradise PD; and Rhea Butcher, who has performed on HBO’s 2 Dope Queens, Conan, and whose own series Take My Wife aired for two seasons.

Other returning fest favorites include Baron Vaughn, Kate Willett, and Shane Torres. Repeat performers Ian Karmel, David Gborie, and Sean Jordan are also slated to host a live episode of their über-popular All Fantasy Everything podcast at the Festival.

The bulk of the local lineup will be announced at a later date, but hometown faves Adam Cayton-Holland (Founder & Executive Director of the Festival), Andrew Orvedahl, and Ben Roy—who collectively make up The Grawlix troupe—will return to the High Plains stage. They’ll be joined by former Denverites Troy Walker, Chris Charpentier, Jordan Doll, Mara Wiles, Stephen Agyei, Brent Gill, Rachel Weeks, Matt Monroe, Kevin O’Brien, Mallory Wallace, Eric Henderson and Nolawee Mengist, making for the largest class of “ex-pats” in the history of the fest.

The 7th Annual High Plains Comedy Festival is sponsored by Illegal Pete’s, Bigtop Studios, and New Belgium Brewing. While traditionally held in August, the Festival is making a move to fall this year and will take place September 26th through 28th, at multiple venues on South Broadway and Paramount Theatre in Denver. Tickets to the headlining show at Paramount Theatre are now on sale at highplainscomedyfestival.com, along with a select remaining number of full Festival Passes. The final wave of comedians, full festival schedule, and individual ticket sales will be announced in August and in early September.
