How long before we get to see a “30 Rock” reunion?

Blerg!
Between the cast reunions of The Office, Parks and Recreation, and the upcoming Community one, we have been feeling this wave of mid-to-late 2000’s NBC sitcom nostalgia. The post-Must See TV era may not have been as high profile at the time, but it has an obviously loyal fan base that has been building up ever since. Plus, any nostalgia is a good escape for us all at the moment.
But with all these shows getting their reunions, there appears to be one glaring omission that comedy fans are waiting for. When are we finally going to get a proper 30 Rock reunion?
We have gotten hints before. Back in 2015, when Tracy Morgan returned to Saturday Night Live, they did a mock-30 Rock sketch, with Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, Jane Krakowski, and Jack MacBrayer all returning. There have also been a few 30 Rock hints before. And Tina Fey was even planning a new show that followed Jack Donaghy to be another Jack Donaghy vehicle that saw him as the Mayor of New York until Alec Baldwin opted not to do it at the last minute.
Since then, there have been hints. Tina Fey has mentioned that she “has some ideas” and even jokes about doing a Liz Lemon/Leslie Knopes (from Parks and Recreation) spin-off. When we spoke to Tracy Morgan last April, he said “If everybody else was coming back, I’d do it.” And while Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt does utilize some of 30 Rock’s players, most notably Jane Krakowski, it’s not really the same.
But it does sound like everyone’s at least somewhat interested. And we’d love to see how Liz Lemon and company are dealing with the pandemic. Any guesses on what ironic hat Frank would don for the occasion? How Liz is still trying to have it all even in quarantine? But until it does happen, we’ll just keep holding out hope. Maybe one day…
