Netflix is reteaming up once again with Iliza Shlesinger, but this time, for a sketch show.
The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show was picked up for 6 episodes by the streaming giant with a plan to film in New York and debut sometime in 2020. “From the mind of Iliza Shlesinger,” the press release states, “comes a secret world filled with absurd characters, insight into the female experience, and irreverent yet poignant social commentary.”
Shlesinger is slated to star in and executive produce the forthcoming series, with Lana Murphy directing. The show’s other executive producers include Kim Gamble, Kara Baker, David Martin, Richard-Allen Turner, and Jon Thoday, with Avalon Television also producing.
This is also to be the first sketch comedy show starring a female for the streaming network. Previous sketch shows have included the revamped W/Bob and Dave, The Characters, and Tim Robinson’s I Think You Should Leave.
Iliza Shlesinger is certainly no stranger to Netflix, as she has been a good earner for the streaming giant since her first special in 2013. Previous specials include War Paint, Freezing Hot, Confirmed Kills, and Elder Millenials. She also has her own podcast entitled Ask Iliza Anything.
