Gilda’s Laughfest is back and in a big way in 2015. This year’s festival will take place March 5-15 and is already off to a fantastic start with several shows selling out during early ticket package and purchase opportunities with more shows being added. 2015 sees the return of Bo Burnham, Nick Thune, Pete Holmes, Brody Stevens, as well as the Blackout Diaries. The fest launched in March 2011 to celebrate laughter for the health of it and features stand-up, improv, film, authors, community showcases, and a variety of seriously funny stuff. The inaugural Fest kicked off with a Guinness Book World Record for Largest Rubber Chicken Toss, garnering international media coverage. The second festival kicked off with setting a Guinness Book World Record for the most people wearing animal noses. In 2015 the nation’s only community-wide festival will showcase George Lopez, Wanda Sykes, Billy Gardell, Patton Oswalt, Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood, Lavell Crawford, Jerrod Carmichael, Brian Posehn, Costaki Economopoulos, Big Jay Oakerson with Ben Roy, Jim Jefferies, the Homegrown Show and Ryan Hamilton. “We saw a strong response to the early ticket package sales during the holiday season,” said Joanne Roehm, LaughFest festival director. Gilda’s LaughFest was created by a team at Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids and since inception, LaughFest has averaged over 50,000 attendees per year. Proceeds from the festival support the free cancer, grief and emotional health programs offered through Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids. Head here for ticket information.
