Jerry Seinfeld was the guest on Buzzfeed Brews. Which is a joint interview series between Buzzfeed and CBS this Morning. Buzzfeed business editor Peter Lauria interviewed the comedian on a wide range of topics but perhaps the most interesting to comedy fans was the moment when Lauria asked about the lack of diversity of comedians on Seinfeld’s web series Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. Seinfeld’s answer was simply, “Who cares!” Seinfeld added that comedy isn’t the census and doesn’t need to be a representative pie chart of America.
Funny is the world that I live in. If you’re funny, I’m interested. If you’re not funny, I’m not interested. I have no interest in gender or race or anything like that. But everyone else with their calculating for that exact right mix. To me that’s anti-comedy. It’s more about PC nonsense than, “Are you making us laugh or not?”
Seinfeld also thinks that the Super Bowl Seinfeld reunion will be the last one we’ll see.
Here’s the full interview if you have 45 minutes.
