When video game fans finally got to see Sonic the Hedgehog get a big screen adaptation in February of last year, one of the highlights was seeing Jim Carey once again do his over-the-top shtick that he had perfected in the 90’s. It’s a perfect marriage of nostalgia, as both Carrey and Sonic sum up what it meant to be a child of the 90’s.
And as with any successful adaptation (it did make over $300 million dollars), a sequel is a given. In the trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Carrey is once again back with what he calls “a brand new ‘stashe.” It’s clearly built up as a big reveal in the trailer, as dammit it should be. When he’s in the zone, Carrey can manage to salvage any movie, regardless of the material. And we hope that is again the case here.
