After Conan returned to filming on location last week (albeit somewhere different than his typical studio), we wondered how long it would be before some of the other late night hosts followed suit. And we now have our answer.
Last night, The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, The Roots, and some members of the staff returned to the studios at Rockefeller centar. At the opening, it started off with a video that shows off our new normal for going to work, complete with mask wearing and temperature checks. Following that, he took to the stage in a very relaxed environment. Even the set is pretty bare bones. Needless to say, there is no audience, so any laughs you heard were from the crew and The Roots.
He then wound up segueing into a song about how “it’s beginning to look a bit like normal”, while realizing just how different things still are. And all of his interviews, which included New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Charlize Theron, still remained virtual over Zoom.
And while honestly, we still have quite a bit of time to go before everything will feel like even somewhat what it was before, this is definitely a good step in the right direction.
