The Tonight Show has entertained audiences for nearly 70 years, long after the kids have gone to sleep. Now, the kids are joining in on the fun with their own incarnation of the show.
Jimmy Fallon is developing a version of The Tonight Show that will be exclusively geared for children. The show will air on Peacock, and be hosted by children. The show will tape in studio 6A, right across the hall from where Fallon tapes the actual Tonight Show. Many of the games and segments that Fallon features on his show will also be making the leap over. Fallon will executive produce the show alongside Lorne Michaels.
In addition to the kids version of the NBC late night landmark, Fallon will also produce an upcoming animated holiday special for the network called, 5 More Sleeps ’til Christmas.
“We continue to be in awe of all things Jimmy,” says Susan Rovner, chairman entertainment content at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, in a statement. “Who else could run The Tonight Show, executive produce and host brand new formats, and adapt his own bestselling books? Jimmy does them all with his signature style. We are privileged to call him a longtime member of our broadcast family.”
