It was a night filled with glitz and glamor as The 55th Grammy Awards entertained the audience once again. The music and speeches were fun yet what we really cared about was the category for Best Comedy Album. Jimmy Fallon, Margaret Cho, Lewis Black, Kathy Griffin, Jim Gaffigan and Tenacious D were all nominated for a Grammy this year and we were curious to see who would walk away with that golden record player trophy. The comedic styles of each album were drastically different from one another as it was an interesting mix of comedic powerhouses nominated.
But the award could only be presented to one winner and that was Jimmy Fallon! His album Blow Your Pants Off was a star-studded collection of tracks he performed live on his late night TV show with The Roots serving as his backing band. In addition there were a few new tracks with a fun Jimmy Fallon twist. Upon hearing of his victory last night Fallon Tweeted:
I can’t believe I just won a Grammy! Not bad for a guy who was kicked out of One Direction. #grammy

Clearly the Grammy committee has voted yet it was interesting to see how our polls matched up.
In the week leading up to the awards we held a poll asking what comedian captured your vote for the Best Comedy Album and the results were quite different then what panned out last night. From those who took our survey, 54% voted for Lewis Black and his album In God We Rust while Jim Gaffigan’s Mr. Universe came in second place with 28% of the votes. Interesting enough, Jimmy Fallon came in third place with only 7% of the vote.
It was a fascinating turn of events last night yet if it was up to us, all six nominees would have taken home a Grammy. Each comedian brought an individualistic and entertaining style to the table and for this, each of them are winners in our book.
