Jimmy Kimmel on Jay Leno, “F-ck Him!”

August 29, 2012      Matt      Feuds, News, Television

Jimmy Kimmel sat down with Bill Carter an author whose documented the late night television wars pretty closely and authored two books about it (The Late Shift and The War for Late Night) for an interview in front of a live audience in NYC and he didn’t really seem to have any problems letting his thoughts on Jay Leno fly.

The two discussed the recent announcement that his show Jimmy Kimmel Live would be moving its timeslot to directly compete with the aging late nighters Jay Leno and David Letterman. Kimmel stressed his love and admiration for Letterman stating he idolized him growing up. But when the topic came to The Tonight Show’s host Jay Leno he didn’t really need much time to think of a decision.

“How about Jay Leno?” Carter asked Kimmel.
“F- him,” answered Kimmel, without pausing to consider his reply. [THR Feed]

Kimmel talked about the time he dressed up as Jay Leno and did an entire show in character. Stating it was some of the funnest times he’s had on the show and that his proudest moment was dropping in on Leno’s “10 on 10” during his ill-fated 10pm show and slamming him to his face.

It’s great that Kimmel takes every opportunity to toss barbs at Leno. Until the recent timeslot change he’s also been the guy sitting in the back of the classroom tossing spitballs on behalf of Letterman and Conan. So give the man a microphone and ask him what he really thinks about any topic. I guarantee it will be funny and an “eff that guy” might be the result.
