America’s sweetheart Jimmy Kimmel will be returning to host the Oscars next year, it’s been announced. The news comes shortly after his stellar turn at the 2017 event, where the Jimmy Kimmel Live host showered guests with snacks, gave tourists a behind-the-scenes look at the ceremony, and trolled Matt Damon on live TV.
Kimmel did such a great job hosting this year that even the biggest flub in Academy Awards history – Warren Beatty mistakenly announcing La La Land as the winner, over real Best Picture victor Moonlight — didn’t bring him down. In fact, Kimmel handled the situation as well as anyone could be expected to, which is probably why it was such a no-brainer for the Academy to invite him back.
