Comedian Jo Koy has had a busy 2021. He has released a new memoir, is currently executive producing a movie based on his upbringing that is filming in Canada, and is now developing an ABC sitcom all his own.
The series, which is titled Josep, follows Koy as “a hard-working nurse trying to navigate dating, fatherhood, and the hilarious complications caused by his strong-willed Filipino mother moving in with him.” Fans of Koy’s will recognize the show’s title from his impression of how his mom pronounces his name.
The show will be executive produced by Randall Park, Michael Golamco (Grimm), Jake Kasdan, and Melvin Mar. Steve Joe is currently signed on as the show runner.
